Model based on double bass from
c.1820
Thomas Dodd (London, b. 1764 d. 1834)
String length 107cm (42 *)
The Instrument
This model epitomizes the classical English Bass making school
of the early nineteenth century, yet it also expresses the
unique style of Thomas Dodd. Every detail of the instrument
is brilliantly and painstakingly executed and it is a truly
superb bass to look at. The varnish is particularly exciting
as it features a reddish colouring atop a golden background,
which produces an uncommonly beautiful colour texture.
